Used as an antifreeze in emulsion paints and water-based systems. It is used as a solvent for casein, gelatin, dextrin, some phenol-formaldehyde resins, alkyd resins, and colorants. It also provides slipperiness and ease of application to the paint. Mono ethylene glycol is also used as a heat transfer agent.
